Mindless Dribblings

I haven’t had a chance to post in a while and here are the highlights of the last few days.

*Still no decision on Brett Favre’s future

*It’s Hot in SC.

*I have began a strange compulsion with listening to classical music while at work. It has a calming effect on me.

*God has completely BLOWN my mind!

*My Sunday School classes’ generosity to people they don’t even know still continues to amaze me. My Sunday School class is a BUNCH OF JESUS FREAKS, no doubt! We are going to keep growing spiritually together.

*God has reminded me how lucky I am to have the family that I have.

*Drew is growing up too fast! I’m sad that in a few weeks that I’ll have a daughter in kindergarten.

*My grandmother and I had a REALLY GOOD conversation.

*Still no decision on Brett Favre’s future.

*Laughed hysterically at the ESPY’s monologue and “I Love Sports” song.

*God blew my mind beyond conprehension through someone else’s obedience.

*Auburn is probably going to start the season ranked in the Top 10. WAR EAGLE!

*Still no decision on Brett Favre’s future.

Vacation is Over!

Despite the wreck, we had a wonderful time in Nashville during the NACBA conference. I was able to learn and network through workshops during the day which really recharged my batteries and I was able to spend the evenings with Lori reconnecting with her.

Thank you for all of your prayers about the car accident last week. We are still trying to figure out how about fixing the car and insurance but it is coming along nicely.

I was able to preach both Sunday morning services at Southside Baptist which I thouroughly enjoy doing. I also was able to facilitate a group of 18 men on Sunday night to commit to 30 days to persue personal holiness in their lives. It is amazing to get a group of men together to talk about their relationship with Jesus. God was definately in our prescence that night.

Last night, we had the priviledge to host Arran Lake Baptist Church’s youth choir as they presented the drama, Living on the Edge, to us. They were powerful and I really enjoyed spending time with their staff.

Pray for me

Pray for me onm Sunday as I will be giving the priviledge of preaching at both morning services at my church.  I deeply covet your prayers. Also, I will be traveling back to SC today and ask that you pray for traveling mercies for us.

Thanks!

Car Wreck!

On a serious note, my family was involved in a car wreck yesterday when we were involved in a hit and run by a drunk driver. Luckily, the driver was arrested and our family is fine. We are VERY thankful that God watched over us and allowed us mercy in what could have been a much worse accident. Please pray for us as we adjust to the unconvenient situation. We also pray that the driver will find Jesus and His salvation during this situation. PRAISE JESUS!

Investing Time in Kids

This week, I have been able to teach grades 1st-6th graders at our church’s Vacation Bible School. I have taken some time this week to also reflect on investing my time in children.

Does it sometimes make me impatient? Yes.

Are there some children who do not mind or listen? Yes.

But is it well worth it? Absolutely!

I feel like we are called by God to invest our time, life, and talents into children. If we don’t then the media will. I heard Perry Noble say one time that if you don’t spend money and time on your kids then Nickelodeon will. Do you want Nickelodeon to raise your children?

I don’t think that it is just your own children that we are called to invest into either but yet all children that we come into contact with, yes, even the difficult ones. Jesus loved spending time with children while here on earth and so should we.

You never know whose eternity that you are affecting when you invest in children.

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone has a chance today to spend time with their family and reflect on how God has blessed America for the past 200 + years. Thank you to all those brave men and women who gave their lives to defend this great country. Thanks to our God for sending His Son to pay the ultimate price for our sins.

Family Chores (Part 3)

We finish up the three-part series on laying a foundation to a healthy family.

We are in Ephesians 5:21-6:4.

In order to promote a healthy family, as children we should:

  1. Submit to one another (v.21)
  2. Obey your parents (Ch. 6 v.1)
  3. Honor your father and mother (v.2)

Are you obeying and honoring your father and mother? Once we are married and especially after we have children. We may begin to forget how important it is to honor our parents. The Bible does not allow us to stop honoring them at a certain point so we must continue to do everything to honor our parents just like we did when we were younger.

I hope this series helped us to get a clearer vision of what God expects from a Christian family.

Family Chores (Part 2)

Ladies, yesterday, we talked about the chores of the hubands in order to create a maintain a healthy family. Today, we will focus on the wives.

In order to create a healthy family unit, the wife must:               Ephesians 5:21-6:4

  1. Submit to one another (v.21)
  2. Submit to your husband as to the Lord (v.22)
  3. Submit to your husband as the church submits to Christ (v.24)
  4. Submit in everything (v.24)
  5. Respect your husband (v.33)

Hmmmmmmm…these verses make it easy to see what is important to God when it comes to being a Godly wife. Submission and respect are the ingredients to being the wife that God calls you to be. If you don’t know if you are submissive and repectful, then ask your husband but you can not get mad at his answer.

Tomorrow, we talk about our role as children…
